Sport, Recreation and Exercise 5M5146 NFQ Level 5
This course enables students to gain the knowledge, competencies and skills intrinsic to physical fitness and exercise on both a practical and a theoretical basis. Delivered over one-year, the Sports and Leisure Management programme facilitates suitable adults in acquiring qualifications for employment opportunities in the area of sport and recreation or to progress to Further or Higher Education.
This programme is delivered under the Vocational Training Opportunities Scheme. VTOS provides general education and training opportunities for unemployed adults, by enabling them to retain their Social Welfare entitlements while in full-time study.

Principal Area of Study
Sports and Recreation Studies, Exercise and Fitness, Sports Anatomy and Physiology, Sports and Exercise, Injury Prevention, Nutrition, Occupational First Aid, Swimming, Communications, Work Experience and Leisure Management Administration.
Upon successful completion of this one-year course, graduates are eligible to seek employment in the sports and leisure industry, in a range of facilities including gyms, health clubs and leisure complexes. Graduates with a FETAC Level-5 Sports, Recreation and Exercise award are eligible to apply for a number of courses, in particular Sports and Health courses, in a variety of third level institutions. They may also progress to Higher Education and training.
