Our hands-on and practical course is designed to provide the skills and knowledge needed to work in the dynamic and developing Horticulture sector. Students will study areas such as Plant Identification, Plant Science, Soil Management and Fruit & Veg Production. Students on this course are assisted with work experience placements.

How will I learn? How will I be assessed?
You will have a mixture of classroom-based subjects, practicals and work placements. You will be expected to complete assignments throughout the year and exams for some modules will take place at the end of the year.

Career opportunities and progression:
On successful completion of the course students can apply to Universities, Institutes of Technology and University Access Programs to study at degree level. This course will also provide you with a variety of career opportunities such as working in Landscaping and Gardening Centres, Parks/Grounds Keeping (OPW or City/Council Councils), Organic Food Production and even Starting Your Own Business.
VTOS Programme:
This is a VTOS programme open to unemployed adults who are receiving a Social Protection payment. To qualify for this programme, you must be receiving a Social Protection payment for at least 6 months and be over 21 years of age.
