DESIGN 5M2208 NFQ LEVEL 5
PLSS Code 500602Fee €150

This intensive Fashion Design Portfolio Preparation course provides learners with a strong grounding in drawing, design, and creative skills for progression to third-level colleges in fashion, art, and design. Students are introduced to the exciting world of textiles and fashion through modules such as combined materials, embroidery, garment construction, and portfolio development.

Learners will develop the ability to research ideas, create design concepts, and transform inspiration into finished garments, while building a strong portfolio that showcases their creativity and individuality. The course encourages experimentation, innovation, and the development of a personal design style.

A unique feature of the programme is access to our dedicated Fashion Atelier, providing an authentic studio environment where learners can develop practical skills and industry-standard techniques. Students also have the opportunity to participate in an additional Millinery Programme, gaining specialist skills in hat and headpiece design.

Learners aged 18 and over may also be selected to participate in an Erasmus+ European mobility project (subject to funding), offering the opportunity to complete a three-week work placement in Italy and gain invaluable international experience. This course is an ideal stepping stone for anyone seeking a future in fashion, textiles, costume design, millinery, or related creative industries.
